Description
2nd -5th Students will participate in STEM education through the use of Lego Education’s Simple Machines curriculum. Students will be provided with instruction and challenges based on the simple machines – gears. levers, wheel and axel, and pulleys. Students will also practice listening skills and giving directions as they take turns giving directions to build a specific hidden model. Students will apply skills of Physical Science, science and engineering processes, mathematics principals, measurement and data recording, writing, speaking and listening. Students will also participate in Maker Designs to solve specific problems. This class is very specific and does not leave much time for open ended Lego play, but is instructional in nature using Lego pieces as the building blocks. Students should expect to solve problems and utilize their legos in certain ways that will be explained in class. There will be some space for creativity as well, but this is not an open ended lego club.
