Description
Students in grades 3-6 will practice math skills learned at home through playing math games and board games in small groups. This class will reinforce math content in a fun and engaging way. Rich math vocabulary discussions and problem solving skills will naturally be the focus in this class, as students will work with each other playing various math strategy games. Each month will focus on a different math specific content—such as mental math with addition/subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, probability, problem solving, geometry and spatial reasoning in addition to differentiated concepts based on what the students need help with. Learning sportsmanship, teamwork and cooperation will also be just as important as reviewing math concepts. Students will keep a binder to keep handouts and “Take home games” to practice at home. Included in the material fee will be math game materials to use at home distributed throughout the year.
