Description
In this class, students in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade will learn math concepts in a developmentally appropriate way, through play! Students will be actively engaged in math using a variety of hands on manipulatives, math specific board games as well as a variety of other ways to practice math using dice and playing cards. Concepts taught will include practice with subatizing and making 10 and 100, adding and subtracting strategies, mental math, geometry and measurement, logic and strategy, as well as learning good sportsmanship and teamwork. Each week students will be sent home with a game to practice at home that reinforces the weekly topic of in class game play. Included in the material fee will be a take home folder and math game materials to be used at home distributed throughout the year.
