Description
Project Based Learning starts with an initial idea and question. From there, the sky is the limit. In this class, students will be given a themed, monthly project objective. By working individually and cooperatively, they will gain exposure to real-world knowledge and how it applies to their project goals. Developing a sugar cookie stand, designing a board game, creating a community service plan, or solving the question of “What items should be in vending machines?”, Project Based Learning projects will blend research, knowledge, creativity and ingenuity together to have your student all in! This class will require some project work to be done at home, as each week students will be given a new objective to help them get their project finished by the end of the month. Students are given the freedom to create their final project however they see fit— whether that be in a power point presentation, poster board diorama, etc. At the beginning of the month, students will be given a project grading rubric, so that they are aware of everything that needs to be included during project creation.
PBL units in this class will inspire multidisciplinary learning— utilizing math, art, geography, engineering, computer literacy, science as well as language arts. Students will work individually and collaboratively to create, model, and design ways to make their project ideas come to life.
The last class of the month, students will share their projects with the class as well as celebrate their creations together.
